Parents and/or Guardians,
Please take a moment to read the attached letters below and review the resources at the bottom of the page before your student takes any of the State Assessments. There is information that will help you and your student navigate testing from year to year. All students in grades 3-8 and 11th grade take CAASPP Math and English every spring. All 5th, 8th, and 12th graders take the CA Science Test (CAST) annually in the spring. Students with severe exceptional needs are administered an alternative assessment (CAA) in English, Math, and Science.
In addition, beginning February 1 of every year, students who are designated as English Learners are required to take the English Language Proficiency Assessment (ELPAC). There is an alternative ELPAC assessment for students with severe exceptional needs too.
